The Audit Process

During the energy audit, I will need to take digital photos of the heating systems, hot water systems, house exterior and attic insulation.  In addition, I will need to see either your MPAC form or a property tax assessment form.

I will need to look at windows, doors, toilets, exhaust fans, basement walls.  I will need to access the attic hatch.

I will perform a blower door test, where I hook up a large fan to your front door to depressurize the house.  With the fan running, we will walk through examining various locations that typically leak air into the home.  You are encouraged to take notes on where to air seal during this walk through.
I will perform a depressurization test to determine if your home is at risk of back drafting exhaust gases from gas/wood/oil appliances into the home.

The energy audit will take about 1.5 hours.

Approximately 2 weeks later you will receive your complete report in the mail.  You may begin your renovations anytime after the day of the energy audit.
